Week 6

On the class for week 6, our topic is '21st Century Teaching'. Matched with the fellow topic, we 'played' Second Life which is a virtual life for education world. I was quite impressed on how education nowadays can be achieved in varity of ways , with a great help of technology. Second life as for me is a really interesting method to use in order to atttract students to study, read notes, explore more knowledge as well as discussing with other students . At the same time when they can achieve amazing informations, they also can have fun , with the beautifu graphics of Second Life where each students can create an account and show their personalties by the appearance of them virtually potrayed.

After utilizing the great world of Second Life, now that we get some ideas on the future education, we discussed on how far Second Life can actually been improved to be a huge benefit on education world. The class came out with consensus that history can be learnt practically when Second Life can be reannact and used to give more impact on students when the whole surrouding is being reenact to the current history topic. For example, when a history class is learning about egypt, Seconf Life can be modified to arabian settings as well as all the people there wearing the arabian style clothes. Personally, I think that would be a great idea especially for small children where their imagination are highly powerful and can give them huge advantage. Other than history, language can also been taught more interesting using second Life by labeling the things in surrounding in different languages. It is believed that graphics can help people memorize better.

Similar to that, biology also can be learn by for instant, labeling the fish. Geography can also been greatly and effectively taught.  In brief, I think this is a great invention and a great modern educational tool to use by educators.

Week 5

More and more interesting technology tools are being exposed to us ! I'm glad I joined this module. Today the class is very interesting. We did our very own account in Secondlife.com . It is an educational website where lecturers and fellow classmates and so does the rest of institutional mates can communicate in a simulation world online while being surrounded by educational surroundings.

The virtual world graphics are very attractive and nicely done. Besides infographs, Secondlife is also an educational tool that helps student to be more attracted to learning. Instead of just being in the class, facing either textbook or whiteboards, students can now learn greatly with Secondlife. In Secondlife, lectures can post notes and studying materials. This is more convenient as students can open their notes anywhere they are with their gadgets. In brief, it suits the modern and and fully technology world better !

However, there is always advantage and disadvantage on an issue. With the cool virtual world that allows everyone to create an account and customize their own people, the disadvantage is students especially girls might spend more of their time customizing and focusing on the beauty and fashion of their sims rather than focusing on the main objective which is to LEARN.

Nevertheless, I believe if the students are being educate and constantly reminded on the main purpose of this educational tool, the problem can be dissolved.

Week 4

in EduTech class week 4, Mr Syukri exposed to us more technology tools that can be used as teaching materials. One of the tool that are being highlighted is 'Infographic'.

There are broader explanation about infographs. Infographs is educating people using both texts and images in which it is believe to be more attractive . This is because, yonger generations are born as digital natives therefore they are more likely to been more attracted to graphics . In conclusion, infographic is a modern educational tool that can be use as a teaching material.

Personally, I believe it is very important to keep our teaching materials as educators , up to date and trendy so that the youngsters are more probably to get the knowledge we intended to pass on :)
